Jingle Bell 5k [8 a.m.] Jingle your way to the finish line. Dress like an elf or in your favorite red and green outfit for this fun family event. Join us for our first annual Jingle Bell Run and meet Santa at the finish line. This year includes a 1-mile Fun Run. Where: Bonita Springs Family YMCA, 27200 Kent Rd. Light up Estero Christmas program [4 to 7 p.m.] The 4th annual “Light up Estero” Christmas program will be held at the Estero Community Park. Music will be provided by the Estero High School Jazz Band and the New Horizons of Southwest Florida Children’s Choir. Naples Smoked BBQ will be on hand to sell their famous barbecue while children will enjoy playing in bounce houses. To complete the evening, Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive by the Estero Fire Rescue fire truck. The event is free. Residents are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets to sit on to enjoy the festivities./E


1st Annual Old-Fashioned Holiday Bazaar [10 a.m. to 4 p.m.] Stop by Koreshan State Historic Site for the 1st annual Old-Fashioned Holiday Bazaar. Enjoy shopping for unique gifts and crafts in the decorated Koreshan settlement. Get your family’s & pet’s picture with Santa. Enjoy a free ride on Santa’s carriage in the Historic Settlement. Holiday in the Park [4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.] The City of Bonita Springs will kick off the holiday season with a blizzard in the park, the annual tree lighting, live entertainment from local bands and the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus. Children will enjoy a snow slide, snow pile, train rides, free holiday cookies, apple cider and other family activities. Where: Riverside Park on Old 41. Cost: Free./B


Ancient Forest Walking Tours at Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary [9 a.m. to noon] Corkscrew’s ancient bald cypress forest is the world’s largest remaining old growth bald cypress forest. Enjoy a 2.25-mile tour on our boardwalk highlighting Corkscrew history, ecology, storytelling and landmark cypress trees. Where: Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, 375 Sanctuary Rd. W. Songwriters at Sunset at Lovers Key State Park [3:30 p.m. to sunset] The concert will feature local artists who write and sing their own original songs. These songwriters will share original Americana music in Bluebird Cafe style. Snacks and beverages will be available by donation. Where: Lovers Key State Park, 8700 Estero Blvd. (in large gazebo). Book Fair Fundraiser [10 a.m. to 10 p.m.] Come and support the Summer Reading Program of the Lee Library system. Make a purchase at Barnes & Noble at Coconut Point or at their Fort Myers store, mention the Friends of the Library or use Book Fair ID # 12244950 and a percentage of your purchase will go to the reading program. Santa on the Sand at Lovers Key State Park [1 p.m. to 4 p.m.] Bring your kids, grandkids, and friends for an afternoon of games and prizes with Santa. Toys will be collected for the Rotary Club of Bonita Springs to distribute to local children, and each child who donates a toy will receive a small gift from Santa. Families in attendance will have a chance to win a fully-decorated Christmas tree from the Rotary Club of Bonita Springs. Lunch will be provided for children, snacks for adults. Event is sponsored by FOLKS and Rotary Club of Bonita Springs. Where: Lovers Key State Park, 8700 Estero Blvd. Cost: Park entry fees are $8 for 2-8-person vehicles, $4 for single person vehicles, $2 for pedestrian/ bicyclist.
